Still in love with the water

This morning Sophia woke up very late and very wet because her diaper had leaked. In a bid to get her to change quickly so that she can get to school in time and be in pee covered clothes for a shorter time, we told her that its waterplay day at school so she should do everything quickly and get to school quickly.

Well what do you know, she was excited alright, but not exactly in a cooperative way. She dashed to get her swim diapers and refused to put on normal diapers, throwing them away when we approach her with one. We finally caved on that and put her in ¬†swim diapers but then she refused to put on normal going out clothes, saying “no no, cannot! Swimming costume!”It took a long time to convince her that she needs to put on normal clothes to get to school before changing into swimming costume.

I guess its not a bad thing to like water, better than fearing water!

Taking photos of toddlers

When Sophia and her friends were babies a few months old, taking photos of them were easy – just lay them in a row and they will have very limited ability to escape. Now, as toddlers, this is what you get:

One child “topples over”

Another follows suit, and more

Probably better to just snap when the kids are playing

After this playdate, I finally bought Sophia a new swimsuit. Hope she doesn’t lose it at school again!

Swim date with cousin Samuel

Warming up before getting into the pool

Having the pool all to herself while Samuel gor gor negotiates against getting in with his dad because the water is way too cold!

Looks like the discussion is pretty one sided because gor gor gets carried in against his (initial) wishes but of course once in he’s the jovial chap he always is again.

Mummy complains that Daddy and Uncle John are always giving all their attention to Samuel gor gor to the exclusion of Sophia

And here’s further proof of it. Good thing Sophia’s perfectly happy playing with her toys.

That may not be a completely fair statement because there is an exception – when Sophia is holding the dangerous weapon in the form of the ducky water gun.

And the kids do play together sometimes and when they do then all 4 come together. The swim toys really help make the trip so much more fun, glad I got them at the ELC sale!

And after a nice swim that ended abruptly with rain, Sophia shares her favourite game with Samuel gor gor – dancing with mini Singapore flags.

Is this appropriate attire for a 1 year old to be seen in a semi-public pool? I’m waiting for her to grow into the swim gear of the next size that I have already prepared while the piece that fits her currently went missing after a waterplay day at school and okay, I confess, I was too “tired” (read: lazy) to get her a new piece.
